I really enjoy it when a music video impresses me so much that I have to Google it or youtube it so I can watch it again, and I’ve been kept busy this week.

I watched the premiere of Gorillaz’s ‘Stylo’ video and I was nothing short of “well impressed”. Admittedly, the song isn’t a corker but the video should hold people’s attention where the song fails to do so. The epically shot/ CG generated video involves Murdoc, 2D and Noodle powering down a dusty desert highway in a shot-to-pieces car and once they outsmart a doughnut craving cop they have Bruce Willis to worry about. Great looking video.

Vampire Weekend’s ‘Giving Up the Gun’ is a fantastic work of bizarre imagination combined with sleek visuals. The video features some famous faces in an all white room playing tennis against a fiery young sportswoman. It’s weird, it’s funny and its got an alcoholic Jake Gyllenhaal wearing ridiculous short-shorts, plus Lil-John dishing out some tennis wisdom. The song is great and the obscure video really contributes to making the record a success.
